GreenSourceNRG produces a versatile renewable energy fuel called BioOil. BioOil is a purely “green” renewable energy fuel made using our Mobile BioOil Plant (MBOP). It is a dark brown, free flowing liquid fuel with a smoky odor reminiscent of the plant from which it was derived. BioOil is formed in a process called "pyrolysis" wherein plant/cellulosic material (biomass), such as sawdust or bagasse from sugar cane, and/or municipal green landfill waste is flash exposed to 400-500 degrees Celsius heat in an oxygen free environment.
Three products are produced: BioOil (60-75% by weight), char (15-20% wt.) and non-condensable gases (10-20% wt.). BioOil is a not a fossil fuel, it is a green renewable energy fossil fuel substitute. It pumps well, ignites, and burns readily when atomized. Most significantly, BioOil has a zero carbon footprint and virtually no NOx emissions.
BioOil contains up to 25% water. The water component in BioOil is not a separate phase and is important because it lowers the viscosity of the fuel. BioOil is not a hydrocarbon-water mix. Another feature of BioOil is its propensity to change slowly over time. This is a positive and unlike bio-diesel, not to be considered an instability.
